Two things I love are food and entertaining. Getting together with family and friends is so much fun, especially when there is good food to eat while you visit, play games, watch games or movies, etc. We recently had a family night, and we wanted to have chips and dip for our snack. We decided to make it really fun, and have a ‘make your own’ 7-layer dip bar. What is a 7-layer dip bar? You lay out several different toppings like onions, peppers, olives, Dean’s Guacamole Dip, cheese and more and let people build their own jar of dip. It is a lot of fun and perfect for big or small groups!
Different topping ideas for the build your own 7-layer dip:
- Refried Beans
- Sour Cream
- Olives
- Black Beans (drained)
- Jalapenos
- Shredded Mexican Cheese Blend
- Dean’s Guacamole Dip
- Dean’s French Onion (or Ranch) Dip
- Avocado
- Green, yellow and red peppers
- Tomatoes
- Onions
- Mushrooms
- Shredded Parmesan
We got a big bag of the corn tortilla chips when we got the Dean’s Dip and the other ingredients from Walmart. To prep the food you will need to dice the tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms, olive, and jalapenos. The beans need to be drained. We put everything into glass dishes that hold about 1 cup. Once you have put everything into the dishes, you might think that this won’t feed very many people, but I have a family of 6 and we had tons of leftovers after everyone filled their bellies.
Two ingredients that I will definitely incorporate into my next 7 layer dip is the New Dean’s Cheddar Bacon Dip and Dean’s Bacon Ranch Dip because, let’s face it, “FACT: Everything tastes better with bacon.” Get $1 off one Dean’s Bacon Ranch or Cheddar Bacon Dip with this coupon! A build your own 7-layer dip bar is perfect for parties
After filling all of the serving dishes we let our kids go crazy building their own 7 layer dip however and in whatever order they wanted to. And let me tell you, the build your own 7-layer dip bar was a HUGE HIT with the FAM. Kenzie, my youngest, wanted mostly Dean’s French Onion Dip with lots of beans and cheese. My boy went for a combination of all the delicious ingredients, (takes after his dad). My girls put refried beans, Dean’s French Onion and Guacamole Dip, Cheese, and Olives and a few veggies, then mixed it all in their dish with a spoon to make one giant mixture of yum.
The best part of making your own 7-layer dip is taking the fresh veggies with the dips and putting as much on one tortilla chip as you can fit on it. Now, if you can, stuff the whole thing in your mouth at once and savor the many fantastically fresh tastes exploding all at once in your mouth. Kudos to Dean’s Dip for making amazingly tasty dips that can be used in so many different ways!

Thanks, it was really fun and easy for my kids to help with, which they love to help in the kitchen when they can.
