BREAKING NEWS: GAME of SNICKERS® Almond vs. SNICKERS® Peanut Butter
in Pepsi™ Stadium is starting now
“It looks like it will be a beautiful day today. Yep, a perfect day for a MARS Candy football gameday. What do you think Mr. Chunks of Chocolate?” “Well, Mr. Colorfully Sweet, I do agree. We will have a tasty kickoff here in a couple more minutes. I can’t wait to see who will kick off first “SNICKERS® Almond or SNICKERS® Peanut Butter….Oh Snap, here comes Mr. SNICKERS® Original Referee for the chip toss. Team SNICKERS® Almond gets to choose the dip flip. Salsa? or Salsa free? And they choose… Salsa! Mr. SNICKERS® Referee has just flipped the TOSTITOS® Scoops chip and it has landed in the TOSTITOS® Salsa! Team SNICKERS® Almond chooses to defer and will get to kickoff. Is this exciting or what Mr. Colorfully Sweet?” “It definitely is Mr. Chunks of Chocolate. I am already having a hard time hearing you with all of the stadiums stands filled with Skittles® Fans that are chanting “YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM!”
“Yes, the stadium is sold out, putting the foundation to the test. Good thing the Pepsi™ Stadium’s stength is more than strong enough to hold all of these Skittles® Fans. Not to mention the quality of the fluid in the Pepsi™ Pillars that will provide a tasty and satisfying thirst quench for players and fans alike. “This is going to be a huge battle on the chips and salsa field today. Who are you rooting for Mr. Chunks of Chocolate?” “I like SNICKERS® Peanut Butter because they have a great center that is bursting with peanut power, however I believe SNICKERS® Almond has a strong, tough, crunchy center as well this year that is out to make a statement. So if I had to choose I’m torn because I like both teams. I’m glad that we have the greatest referee calling the game though. We need a fair game called and nobody is better at what they do then good old SNICKERS® Original Referee.
“And we’re under way!…..”
Who do you think will win? If you want to enjoy this battle of deliciousness, then it’s time to create your own field for gameday greatness.
Items needed to create your MARS Candy football gameday field: Medium sized cardboard box, cookie sheet, sauce cups with lids, heavy duty tinfoil, dowels, SNICKERS® FUN SIZE® Variety 35 oz., Skittles® XL 41 oz., Pepsi™ 12 oz. 12 pack, (2) TOSTITOS® Scoops, (2) TOSTITOS® Chunky Salsa, duct tape, scotch tape, scissors and decorations.
Let’s begin by taking a baking sheet/pan and measuring the size. Find a cardboard box that the pan will fit into. (So glad for all of those boxes my wife got over the holidays from online shopping – we had plenty to choose from 😉 ). If you can’t find a perfect size box, then it is very easy to cut a larger cardboard box with scissors and use duct tape to retro fit your pan. As you can see in the pictures we took the box and cut it down at the corners, and then folded them over towards the outside, down to the bottom to create the “stands” where the Skittles® are. We used a lot of duct tape to cover the gaps and make sure it was sturdy. This also helped the tinfoil from ripping because there weren’t gaps or sharp edges.
Next we took the tinfoil and made it into “stands” for the Skittles® . I didn’t measure the pieces I used, but they were probably about 12-18″ long because you have to put the edge down under where the cookie sheet will go in the middle, and then have enough to do four folds (creating the edges that the Skittles® sit in) and then enough to wrap around the outside edge of the stadium, down to the bottom. I used scotch tape to secure all of these stands in place as I went so it would be easier.
After the stands were built and filled, I put the cookie sheet in. This can be a little tricky if you build your stands to close to the edge, so be careful. Once the cookie sheet is in place, you will take the dowels and cut them to the sizes that you want to build your field goal posts. I used hot glue to stick mine together, and then used fishing line, brown craft foam and stickers to create the football going through the end goal post. I made a small hole in the box to push the dowels through on each end. Next you will take the small cups and fill them with TOSTITOS® Chunky Salsa (I had 4 rows of 5). Then you will take the TOSTITOS® Scoops and pile them between the salsa cups. I like the cups we grabbed because they also had lids which made them easy to store and for people to take with them.
Once all of that is done, you will then take the SNICKERS® and place them around the stadium. We have some inside the box on the edges of the pan (representing the teams) and then around the top of the box on the edges to fill in the space. We placed the cans of Pepsi™ around the outside of the stadium. We have shot glasses that we can fill or just drink out of the cans. Overall, it turned out great! We got a lot of great reactions to it and everyone loved it. There was more than enough for our family and friends to enjoy delicious Gameday treats in a fun way and now that the stadium is built it can be “refilled” and used over and over easily.
We picked up all of our supplies at Walmart. They have everything you need to build your own Snack Stadium and have great treats for your Gameday party! I would love to know what you think of our Game Day Snack Stadium. Leave a comment below telling us what your favorite part is, and be sure to check out more recipes and snack stadium ideas here.
