We love summer because we get to be outdoors and play. Unfortunately some of my family, including myself, suffer from allergies and sensitive skin. It used to be a real challenge for us because we wanted our kids to be free to play and have fun without worrying about allergy issues. To make your DIY Front Porch Welcome Sign, you will need the following:

1. 3 boards cut to 31″ x 6″ x 2″
2. 1 board cut to 29″ x 6″ x 2″
3. 2 boards cut to 42″ x 4″ x 2″
4. 1 board cut to 19″ x 4″ x 2″
5. Can of spray paint
6. Paint for letters and paint brush
7. Tin can pot holders
8. Sheet metal cut to 19″ x 24″
9. 2″ wood screws
10. Tape measure
11. Pencil
12. Miter saw

Here are the steps to make your welcome sign:

Cut a 2″ by 4″ board into (2) 42″ pieces

Cut a 2″ x 6″ board into (3) 31″ pieces

Space boards 19″ apart (from outside to outside)

Attach boards with (2) 2″ screws in each board

Cut a 2″ x 6″ board to 29″ and attach bottom as a shelf. Add a 2″ x 4″ board cut to 19″ under as support.

Spray paint welcome sign desired color. Paint it on your grass, on top of cardboard.

When the spray paint dries, paint your “Welcome” message on your sign, add your pots and flowers.

This sign was a lot of fun to make for the porch at our new house. My kids enjoyed helping here and there and I think it turned out great. My wife is very excited.
