Halloween is just around the corner, and while my kids and my wife and I are excited for Halloween, this year we wanted to include our pets! They love attention (treats, loves, playing) and so we wanted to do something fun for them and our neighbors with pets. We can’t wait to leave a few of these around our neighborhood and BOO it forward! The Temptations® cat treats and the SHEBA® PERFECT PORTIONS™ are a great addition to the BOO kit and with the homemade toys and other items it makes it fun for everyone (pet and owners). We grabbed some American Greetings® bags and tissue paper on our trip to Walmart, to include in our BOO kits, and I thing they turned out great. You can also order online at Walmart.com and get all of the essentials to make your BOO’ing kit at home!
To make the treat bag we used a piece of material, folded in half (or two pieces) cut to about 4 in x 6 in. We used a stapler (as pictured below) to secure the bag, and then we turned it right side out and frayed the edges. After we had it filled with treats, we took a ribbon and tied it closed leaving the fray and the top. To fray the material, just cut it several times (it can be random, but be careful not to cut large pieces of the bag off).
The picture frame is a foam pumpkin that we cut a rectangle in. For the toy, we used pipe cleaner and cut two sticks into about 5 pieces each, then twisted them together making a fun shape that the cat loves to play with.Make sure there are no sharp edges exposed. They love batting this around the floor and playing with it.
To make the POM POM toy you will need yarn and ribbon. We used a medicine bottle to wrap the yarn around. Slide the yard off and place it on a single piece of yarn that is long enough to tie securely around the pile of yarn. Tie a square knot to secure the yarn together. For added fun and color, I took a few pieces of ribbon and tied them around the center (facing different directions). Once you have all of the pieces tied on, take the scissors and cut the loops on both ends. The spread the yarn out making it into a ball. I tied a long piece of yard onto one of the pieces of ribbon so we could dangle it in front of the cat and play with him. He loved it!
While we were at Walmart picking up groceries, we found these fun whimsical American Greetings® Halloween gift bags and tissue paper. They is also stickers and other items that you can get to make all of your Halloween gifts fun and exciting. Put together a fun Cat Halloween BOO Kit for your neighbors, your co-workers or even as teacher gifts. These are so fun and great for any occasion!
I love how the BOO Kit turned out. There are so many different things you can do for these. The You’ve Been BOO’d Card is a great addition, and you can print your own card out here.
