Our family loves Christmas. It is fun to decorate and get into the spirit of things. It is even more fun when we can make our own decorations and teach my kids how to create and build things that look amazing and have a purpose. It is even more fun to make these and give some of them away to friends and family so they can enjoy the Christmas spirit as well. I have found 12 really great DIY Christmas Decorations that we love – and I am also sharing my sons Sock Snowman that he made. It was really easy and fun.
Just take a sock – we used ankle socks – and fill the bottom 1/2 with rice. Tie it off really tight with thread or yarn, then add more rice – filling it up to about 2 inches from the top. Tie the top off tight. Glue some buttons or pom poms for the buttons on the front. use toothpicks for the arms and the nose (color it orange with a crayon), use fabric paint for the mouth, and glue googly eyes on with craft glue. We made the hat out of a piece of felt. We just took a felt sheet, cut it in half so it was 4.25 x 8.5 – then we folded it in half and did some quick stitches up the back. Fold a little bit for the brim around the hat then stick it on the head. We tied a yarn around the middle and added a bell. It turned out really great.
