Our cat has been in our family since we started our family. A few months after my wife and I got married we got our cat and he has been with us ever since. That was almost 13 years ago. I can’t believe it has been that long. In that time we have moved several times, had 4 kids and even got a dog, but he has been a patient cat enduring it all and is now very spoiled and loved by everyone. We like to let him know that he is loved by feeding him a well balanced diet and giving him lots of playtime. IAMS™ is a brand we trust to deliver well balanced nutrition to our cat through their new cat food and treats that target specific dietary needs.
The new reformulation of IAMS™ helps with Hairball Care, Digestive Health and Oral Care. This is great news for us because our cat has long hair and has issues with hairballs, and oral care and digestive health are also important. I love that they have formulated treats and food that help target these areas. They help my cat stay healthy and he loves the food and treats. Because we also want him to stay healthy we also built a fun Wall Cat Toy that you can easily make, attach to your wall, and let your cat have hours of fun playing. We made this for our cat a couple of weeks ago and he has loved every minute of it!
To make your DIY Wall Cat Toy you will need a 4 inch piece of a 2×4, a 12 in piece of a 3/8″ dowel, wood glue, twine and a few cat toys (bells, feathers, etc). We picked most of this stuff up at Walmart and made the toy in about 30 minutes (or less). Our cat has spent hours playing with it – so it was well worth it. You will also need a drill that has a 3/8″ bit to drill a hole in your 2×4 board, and a screw driver and two screws to attach it to the wall.
First take the 2×4 board and drill a hole in the center of board at a slight angle (do not go all the way through- but at least 3/4 of the way). Put the dowel in a little to make sure it will fit, but don’t push it all the way in. The angle will help keep it from sliding out.
Next you will take and put a bit of the wood glue and put it in the hole. Then stick the dowel in and push down to secure the fit. Wipe off any excess.
While the glue is drying you will take and attach the toys to the twine, and make little notches in the dowel to tie the twine to. This will keep the twine from sliding around.
Once the glue is dry, hang it on the wall (preferably in a stud) securing with two screws – one above and the other below the dowel.
This is a fun way to allow your cat to get exercise and get him/her good and hungry for their IAMS™ cat food and treats. Learn more about the different varieties of IAMS™ here.
